Laboratory tests

Residual water and moisture
The analysis is carried out directly on the sample (for liquid samples) or by extraction of the residual moisture with anhydrous methanol (for solid samples)

Chemical analysis
ICP-OES spectrometry, an extremely precise, accurate, and versatile technique, the sample is dissolved in a known volume of solution, which is then nebulized in an argon plasma torch generated by a radio frequency

Failure analysis
The main technique for analysing material defects is scanning electron microscopy (SEM)
coupled with energy dispersion microanalysis (EDS)

Rubbers, Plastics, Synthetic fibers
Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometry (FTIR), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), and
Thermogravimetry (TGA) are the three techniques that, often in conjunction with each other,
allow the characterization of all polymeric materials

Packaging
Suitability of materials for contact with food, global and specific migration test (metals, amines, dyes)

Materials containing asbestos
Analysis of asbestos-containing or potentially contaminated artifacts and waste by
Fourier Transformed Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR)

Metallographic Analysis
The choice of a metal alloy for a particular purpose cannot always be made on the basis of previous data

Scanning electron microscopy
To better meet customer needs, APM provides the scanning electron microscopy laboratory for analysis sessions with customer assistance

Oils and fats
Determination of the water content according to Karl Fisher,

Pigments, paints and protective coatings
Analysis and identification of paint type by Fourier Transformed Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). Analysis is possible even on very small surfaces thanks to the
FTIR microscope included in delivery

Corrosion tests
Accelerated corrosion tests are performed in accordance with the main national and international standards (ASTM B117, EN ISO 9227) or according to specifications of the customer (Automotive sector)

Mechanical and technological tests
APM has a workshop equipped for cutting and machining test specimens, even on large
parts, and is able to build equipment to specific standards provided by the customer

Electronic cards and equipment
Macrographic and micrographic examination of welds, measurement of the thicknesses and the intermetallic layer…

Mechanical component cleaning test
The continuous development of quality standards in the Automotive sector requires the use of components with an ever decreasing content of impurities and processing residues

Fogging Test
The fogging test, or mist test, measures the tendency of materials to release volatile
substances collected on a cold surface maintained at a controlled temperature

Thermal shock
Thermal shock tests are used to test the adaptability and resistance of materials to sudden changes in temperature

Slow thermal cycles
Thermal aging tests are used to test the adaptability and resistance of materials to cycles of slow temperature and humidity changes according to specific ramps and programs
